We are an Accident

David and Patricio first crossed paths in 2005 as students at Marian Catholic High School. On the surface, they couldn’t have been more different—David was a star athlete on the baseball field, while Patricio was a self-described neurotic outsider. But beneath those differences was a shared love for the golden era of indie rock, a passion that kept them in the same orbit over the years.

In 2013, Patricio formed a band called Rever, joined by two of David’s close friends. Though not onstage, David was deeply involved—managing and booking the band from 2013 to 2016. After Rever disbanded, David decided to switch gears—from organizing shows in Tijuana to stepping onto the stage himself. He joined the band Hawk Auburn as a bassist.

Around that time, while Patricio was going through a musical hiatus, David kept pushing him to reconnect with playing. One jam session led to an impromptu show at Mous Tache Bar in Tijuana, with Patricio on guitar, David on drums, and Diego Medrano (founding member of San Pedro El Cortez) also on guitar. That night, they opened for Mexico City’s Carrion Kids—a pivotal moment.

A year later, David left Hawk Auburn and teamed up with Patricio and multi-instrumentalist Michael Amaya to form Axxident. Originally a three-piece, the band became a duo after Michael left due to personal reasons. Then came the COVID-19 pandemic. With the world on pause, David and Patricio dove deep into writing and experimenting—spending countless hours refining their sound and figuring out how to make the biggest sound with just two people.

Since forming, Axxident has brought their high-energy sound to major festivals across North America, including MonkeeBee (Mexico City), Tijuana Fuzz Festival, Psyched! Fest (San Francisco), and two editions of Seattle's Freakout Festival. They were also honored to perform at the Volcom headquarters for the premiere of one of Leo Romero’s skate videos. On the local scene, Axxident has made their mark at iconic venues throughout Tijuana and San Diego, such as The Casbah, Til-Two Club, Tower Bar, Soda Bar, Mous Tache, La Terraza, Black Box, and Marko Disko Social Club.

They’ve also shared the stage with a wide range of artists, including:

Acid Tongue ,Acid Mothers Temple, Carrion Kids, Daikaiju, Diles Que No Me Maten, El Shirota, Elis Paprika, Frankie and the Witch Fingers, Grizzled Mighty, Holy Wave, Hong Kong Fuck You, Jenny Don’t & the Spurs, Leo Romero (Travesura), Los Espíritus, Los Gallos Charros, The Macks, Mala Suerte, Mengers, Mint Field, Mondo Generator, Muerte en Aceite, San Pedro El Cortez, Satan is Real, Sgt. Papers, The Black Lips, The Cult of One, The MCCharmlys, and Viagra Boys.

Fueled by raw energy, a DIY spirit, and a long-standing friendship, Axxident continues to evolve—pushing boundaries and proving that two people can still make a whole lot of noise.
